Argita Malltezi, the daughter of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, was asked this evening about January 21 and about Gërdec, two cases for which accusations have been raised against her father.

Malltezi said in a television interview that these are two aggravating situations, regardless of guilt.

She stated that in the case of January 21, there was no illegal action by the state structures, while regarding the Gërdec explosion, she emphasized that her heart hurts every time she remembers it.

"I am here because I think I have an obligation to explain to those Albanian citizens who have supported Sali Berisha, who have supported the DP. I'm not here to ask anyone for anything. This issue is a matter completely devoid of substance. This issue will quickly dry up as strangely as it started.

So, not being a public person, no public reaction was expected from me for those situations, but without a doubt that all of them are aggravating situations, despite the fact that the fault is something else entirely, the situation itself is an aggravating situation.

These are events that accompany, so to speak, the political and historical recourse of a country, it is a great misfortune, but also a heavy burden to face them. The important thing is that the person has an accountability towards God and towards the law.

This second one (January 21) clearly showed, I think, that there was no illegal action by state structures. The first, (Gërdeci) is something that, as I said, every time I look at Gërdeci's situation, it is something that hurts my heart, it is not something that can be easily passed over", underlined the daughter of the former prime minister, Berisha./ CNA
