The year 2023 does not start well for Amazon/ 25 thousand jobs are cut

Just five days into 2023, Amazon, Salesforce and Vimeo have announced over 25,000 job cuts amid fears of a coming recession.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy confirmed the news today, saying that about 18,000 jobs will be reviewed.

The massive job cuts, which were first reported by the Wall Street Journal, were a much higher figure than Amazon's initial plans for 10,000 job cuts.

Amazon has about 1.5 million workers and the latest layoffs are the first in history.

On Wednesday, Salesforce said it would cut about 10%, or more than 7,000, of its 73,541-person workforce and close several offices in an effort to cut costs.

Now, tech companies are changing their strategies amid fears of an impending recession. More than 1,000 technology companies worldwide have cut more than 150,000 jobs in 2022./ CNA.al
