Why is Instagram asking your birthday?

When I open Instagram to "take a look" suddenly a new option appears “Add Your Birthday.” You may have ignored it from time to time, but Instagram's insistence on learning your birthday is stronger.

You have no choice but to show the date and year, if you are going to continue your normal activity on Instagram. Why is the platform doing this? It's just a matter of protocol.

In fact, Instagram has started this request since 2019, but for those of you who created an address before this year, this option was missing. So it's just a way to update the network.

The other main reason is related to the company's policies to ensure that children under the age of 13 do not use Instagram.

Another thing you should definitely know is that you cannot edit or change your birthday. This is to avoid the fake age that children usually try to put in to create an account.
