OFFICIAL/ Real Madrid announces Ancelotti's successor

Xabi Alonso is the new coach of Real Madrid. The Spanish club officially announced that the former midfielder will succeed Carlo Ancelotti on the bench, starting from June 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.

Alonso leaves behind a successful period at Bayer Leverkusen, where he won the German championship without defeat, the Cup and the Super Cup.

He returns to Real Madrid, where he played from 2009 to 2014, winning six trophies including the 10th Champions League. Alonso also has a glorious career with the Spanish national team, where he won the 2010 World Cup and two European Championships.

His presentation as coach will take place on May 26. Alonso will lead the team from the Club World Cup, which starts in June in the United States. His return to Madrid is seen as a major step in his coaching career.
