OFFICIAL/ Barcelona transfers goalkeeper from rivals

Joan Garcia is officially Barcelona's newest goalkeeper and comes from Espanyol. The Catalan club have paid the player's release clause of 25 million euros, indexed to inflation, and the player has signed for 6 seasons until June 30, 2031.

The presentation ceremony will be held behind closed doors at the club's headquarters. The 24-year-old goalkeeper began his career at Manresa and Damm, before moving to Espanyol at the age of 15. He has represented the Spanish national team at every age level and in 2024 won the Olympic gold medal.

The 2023/24 season was decisive, as he became a regular starter for Espanyol and finished as the goalkeeper with the most appearances in La Liga. Barcelona sees him as an investment for the present and the future, with high reliability and considerable potential at European level.
