A young man died at the hands of Iranian security forces after going out to celebrate his team's loss against the United States at the World Cup in Qatar, the Oslo-based Iran Human Rights NGO (IHRNGO) announced on Thursday.

"His name was Mehran Samak, he was shot in the head by state forces as he went out to Bandar Anzali to celebrate the loss of the World Cup, like many others around the country. He was only 27 years old," the official website says. of IHRNGO on Twitter.

Born in 2005 and registered in Norway since 2009, Iran Human Rights Organization (IHRNGO) claims to be made up of people from inside and outside Iran and has members in the United States, Canada, Japan and several European countries.
