Ronaldo writes his name in gold letters, a historic record at the World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make history at the 2026 World Cup, scoring two goals in the first half against Uzbekistan. The Portuguese forward scored in the 6th and 39th minutes, setting a unique record in the history of the tournament.

With his first goal, Ronaldo became the first player to score in six different World Cup editions: 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026.

He reached the 10-goal mark at the World Cup, surpassing Portuguese legend Eusebio, who had stopped at 9. At 41 years and 131 days old, Ronaldo is also one of the oldest players to score in the competition's history.

The Portuguese captain has played 24 World Cups so far and is close to equalling Lothar Matthaus' record of 25 appearances. Outside of the World Cup, he continues to hold the records for most international appearances and most goals for his country.
