Ronaldo after double: I've been responding to criticism for 23 years

After the important victory over Uzbekistan, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo and coach Roberto Martinez commented on the striker's double and the team's performance at the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo remained calm in the face of criticism, emphasizing that his focus always remains on teamwork and collective objectives, despite his great personal achievements.

"I've been responding to criticism for 23 years. The important thing was to work for the team and have confidence. We're working well and we're improving. Speaking for myself, these are prestigious objectives to achieve, but I prefer the team's objectives. We've had a difficult week, but we're teammates who work well together," Ronaldo said.

On the other hand, coach Martinez praised the team's reaction after a difficult week, noting that the 41-year-old's movements within the penalty area remain the best in the world and that his unblocking was simply a matter of time.
