The transfer to Serie A was expected, Balotelli faces the unexpected

Mario Balotelli was on the verge of a move to Serie A side Genoa, but the move has been blocked at least for now.

Due to the emergency in the attack, coach Alberto Gilardino had personally contacted Balotelli, to communicate his desire to have him in the team, where he promised him the place of the starter.

When the final agreement was expected, the situation took an unexpected turn. The club's leaders have come out against the coach, refusing to sign the 34-year-old, who has been without a team since the end of last season after leaving Adana Demirspor.

Coach Gilardino's future is also uncertain on the Genoa bench and therefore the managers are taking their time, not rushing to bring in a name in attack despite Vitinha's injury.
