Guardiola's successor, Manchester City, has a new coach ready

Manchester City are thinking about the coach who can succeed PepGuardiola on the bench, as the future of the Spanish technician is not certain. "Citizens" seem to have chosen the current coach of Sporting Lisbon for the bench, Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese is seen as the right profile to have a big name on the bench, such as Guardiola, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Amorim, considered one of the best young coaches in Europe, is an understandable choice, also thanks to his close relationship with Hugo Viana, who next summer will take over as Manchester City's sporting director.

Viana aims to ensure a smooth transition in case Guardiola does not renew his contract. Manchester City, while hoping to keep one of the world's most popular managers, are aware that they must prepare for any eventuality.

Amorim has already been monitored by several major European clubs and is among the leading candidates to take Guardiola's place if the role is made available to him. The 38-year-old has actually been with other prestigious clubs for a long time.

He was among the candidates to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool last year, and has also negotiated with Chelsea in the past. Finally, he has been linked with a possible move to Manchester United, should Ten Hag be sacked.

Despite these opportunities, Amorim decided to stay at Sporting Lisbon, where he won his second Portuguese title last season, also showing his worth in European competitions, such as beating Tottenham in the Champions League in 2022 and knocking Arsenal out of the Europa League in the past.
