"In Greece I had no papers, in England they cheated me"/ Florian Marku tells the journey to become a boxer

2022-08-27 12:19:17, Sport CNA

Boxer Florian Marku has confessed details of his life at the ceremony of awarding the title "Big Star of Public Recognition". From the journey to Greece without papers to arriving in England through fraud, Mark shared the entire journey and the difficulties he has faced so far. Also, in front of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government cabinet, he showed that he managed to keep his promise to his mother, to whom he had promised that he would not work anymore because he would help her.

In the end, the boxing champion sent a message to the youth not to give up but to follow their dreams to the end.

'Now I don't know where to start. It's a dream come true, all of Albania to see me, I don't know what to say. As you can see, I have been realistic. I was born in Lushnje, at the age of 7 we fled to Thessaloniki, in Lushnje I played sports, in Thessaloniki I took up football, then I changed sports, started boxing.

I worked as a handyman, my mother also worked as a cleaner, I don't know where the mother is, I think she is keeping the son outside. I told her you will never work again, several years passed, thank God she doesn't need to work anymore. Cracks across the face are small things. I was declared the champion of Greece, I never threw down the Albanian flag. I operated on my hands 5 times, it's a tough sport. I returned to boxing, when I was in Greece I was without papers, we lived without papers. I escaped to England by accident, a promoter lied to us, you will have them ready, I took the bride and we left for England.

When I arrived everything was a scam, we were cheated, we had nothing, I dreamed of boxing in England. I said we are starting from 0. There I caught the biggest promoters, I told them I will fill the ring. Then they opened the sukuk roads for me.

Nothing is luck in life, it takes a lot of work and sacrifice. We all have prejudices. Either I deserve it or nobody deserves it. The doctors told me not to struggle, I couldn't feel my hand, I've been through a lot of things like this. I want to tell the youth: Never give up, your day will come, as I am here today, ' said Marku.

Florian Marku has been declared champion for the WBC Silver title. Two days ago, at the 'Air Albania' stadium, the Albanian boxer faced the Mexican Miguel Parra Ramirez, a duel that lasted 10 rounds, with the Albanian boxer winning by points.
