La Liga "blocks" Barcelona, ??Laporta explodes: We will be tough,

The clash between Barcelona and La Liga has flared up again, this time over a bitter dispute over the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The Spanish football governing body has openly accused the Catalan club of manipulating financial balance sheets to circumvent Financial Fair Play rules, creating a situation with major consequences for the future of the players and the club.

It all started at the end of 2024, when Barcelona tried to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, who had been injured until then, to their roster. However, La Liga blocked this operation, claiming that Barcelona, ??due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, could not register new players.

In response, the Catalan club tried to find an alternative route by including in the balance sheet around 100 million euros from the sale of VIP areas at the renovated Camp Nou stadium. La Liga considered this move unjustified and refused to register the players.

At this point, Barcelona appealed to a government body, the Higher Sports Council, which approved the registration of Olmo and Viktor, recognizing the alleged income from the sale of VIP areas as legitimate. Faced with this decision, La Liga was forced to provisionally accept the registration of the two players.

But the story didn't end there. After the player registration was approved, La Liga launched a detailed review of Barcelona's balance sheets, revealing that the 100 million euros claimed by the club did not actually appear in the financial accounts. For this reason, La Liga decided to lower the salary cap for Barcelona's squad, prohibiting the possibility of further registration of new players.

As a result, the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor has become uncertain again, and La Liga has threatened to suspend them until the end of the season.

The serious accusations from La Liga prompted a strong reaction from Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who rejected the claims of the body that runs Spanish football, accusing it of political persecution of the Catalan club.

"We will respond to La Liga in a tough way! They can't beat us on the pitch, so they are trying to damage us off it. La Liga had approved the registration of Pau Victor and Dani Olmo and now they have changed their mind? This shows that they did a bad job when they initially accepted it. La Liga comes out with this statement before a very important match such as the one against Atletico Madrid in the Cup. How strange! This is an attempt to damage us at key moments of the season", declared Laporta.

The clash between Barcelona and La Liga could have serious consequences for the Catalan club. If the decision to lower the salary cap is not reversed, then Barcelona will not be able to register new players in the summer, further hampering its plans for the transfer market and competition at the highest level.
