He is sentenced in Italy, Milan chooses the sporting director

Milan are preparing for a major revolution and change in the management structure. The Rossoneri have appointed Fabio Paratici as their sporting director.

The Rossoneri's delegated administrator, Giorgio Furlani, was in London, where he held talks to reach the final agreement with the former Juventus and Tottenham director.

The appointment comes after weeks of speculation over the possible candidates for the position. Igli Tare and Tony D'Amico, two names that had been mooted as possible options for Milan, will not be part of the club's new project. 

Fabio Paratici, a former midfielder, began his career as a manager at Sampdoria, where he worked closely with Beppe Marotta. It was Marotta who brought him to Juventus, where Paratici played a key role in building a dominant team in Serie A and on the European stage.

However, his time at Juventus was not without controversy. In May 2021, he left the club amid a major overhaul at the Old Lady. After that, he moved to the Premier League, where he was appointed sporting director at Tottenham.

Paratici's career took a major hit after the investigation into the infamous bonus-fixing scandal involving Juventus. As a result, he was suspended from all sporting activities by the Italian Football Federation for a period of 30 months, a decision confirmed by the Federal Court of Appeal. For this reason, he left Tottenham in April 2023.

His sentence is in effect until July 20, 2025, and after that date he can take on a leadership role at Milan.
