Chaos in Italy, the club is punished with a loss in the table

Salernitana has been officially sentenced to a 3-0 defeat on the table against Sampdoria, after the interruption of the "play out" match.

Serie B sports judge Ines Pisano also ruled that the Salerno club will play the first two games of the upcoming season behind closed doors. According to the report by the referees and the sports prosecutor's office, fans attempted to enter the pitch and threw pyrotechnics, benches and hard objects.

Despite the intervention of the security forces and a 30-minute interruption, the riots continued and the match was eventually cancelled. The club has now officially been relegated to Serie C.

Authorities are analyzing security footage to identify the individuals responsible. A fan punched a security guard, and all involved are expected to face legal action.
