Georgi Minoungou, the 23-year-old Seattle Sounders player originally from Ivory Coast, has attracted attention at the Club World Cup not only for his performances on the field, but also for his unique story.

He lost the sight in one eye after an infection during a friendly, but that didn't stop him from pursuing his dream of becoming a professional footballer. After a difficult period where he was in danger of losing out on a first-team contract, Minoungou worked hard to achieve this goal.

I wanted to reach the highest levels, I worked hard and I succeeded," said Minoungou.

His Club World Cup debut came against Atletico Madrid, a highlight of a career full of challenges.
