The opening ceremony of the "European Chess Club Cup" was held in Golem, where chess players from all over the world came.

During his welcoming speech, the President of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, Fidel Ylli, said that this activity is not just a competition for Albania.

Ylli declared that the chess championship is tourism, diplomacy, quality of life and the best image of our athletes.

"The chess federation has done two activities in one year, in May it held the European school championship, where they had spectacular results, and now it is the Chess Champions League, let's say.

Therefore, I want to thank the President of the European Chess Federation and that of the World Federation who have chosen Albania to hold such a great activity in our country, since in our vision of the Olympic Committee, sport is not just a race, it is not just a competition who wins, but it's tourism, it's diplomacy, it's quality of life, it's the best image of these athletes of ours who honor us all over the world", he emphasized./ CNA
