Survived the earthquake in Turkey, Montella: I was close to a great tragedy

After the tragic earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, Vincenzo Montella, coach of Adana Demirspor, spoke to "Corriere della Sera" about this tragedy.

"My players were woken up by family members who were on the street. It was raining heavily in Adana and an apocalyptic scenario of great proportions was unfolding before their eyes. The epicenter of the earthquake is two hundred kilometers away, but the shaking has been strong and continuous and we have felt it a lot.

Women and children had left their homes, they were crying loudly. I could hear their screams from the cell phone. My children call me and ask me to come home. I soothed them, but now I would like to hug them tightly. I need this to feel good physically and emotionally.

I feel like a lucky one, I came close to a great tragedy, but luckily I didn't suffer anything", said Montella.
