Earthquake in Turkey/ He flew from the balcony to save his life, the drama experienced by the footballer

2023-02-07 09:36:47, Sport CNA

The hours pass and the number of dead bodies from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria rises. Thousands of people are missing and injured, which unfortunately risk causing the death toll from this incredible tragedy to rise again.

Even the world of sports and football is anxious for all those who are still under the rubble at the moment. There is now little hope for Yeni Malatyaspor goalkeeper Eyup Turkaslan after the building he recently lived in collapsed on itself.

On the other hand, one of his teammates, Baris Basdas, had a rather special experience. The footballer born in Cologne of Turkish nationality and with a past in the red and white representatives and in German teams such as Cologne and Hanover, is one of the most experienced elements of Yeni Malatyaspor.

The 33-year-old who celebrated his birthday a few days ago was at his home when the first very strong earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck. The ground began to shake strongly in that area, among the 8 most affected provinces.

Baris Basdas apparently realized what was happening and decided to make an extreme move. According to Bild's reconstruction, the player jumped from the balcony in the hope of saving himself. Shocked by what was happening, Basdas took a leap of faith from the second floor as his agent Serdar Topçu revealed.

Apparently, the defender suffered a serious leg injury and ended up in the hospital. Topcu said: "Everyone is very afraid for their lives. It's terrible. There will be several thousand dead.”

Basdas can therefore consider himself very lucky judging by what happened to other players, such as Atsu who is still missing and his teammate Eyüp Türkaslan who now fears the worst. His condition will have to be evaluated, also because the hope is that the problem will not jeopardize his career on the field.
