Tributes to Sabah Biz, Duka: A great figure of Albanian football, his memory

The Albanian football community today conveyed to its final resting place the legend Sabah Bizi, one of the icons of Vllaznia and the Albanian National Team, who passed away the day before.

The tributes organized today in Shkodra were attended by the President of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, the Vice President of the Albanian Football Association, Lutfi Nuri, and the Secretary General of the Albanian Football Association, Ilir Shulku.

After expressing condolences to Sabah Biz's family, friends and relatives, the President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, gave a statement to the media, considering today a sad day for the entire Shkodran and Albanian football community.

"Today is a sad day, for me and for all of Sabah Bizi's friends, for Brikeno and the entire Bizi family, but not only, for the entire Shkodran and Albanian football community.
Sabah Bizi was one of the icons of Albanian football, a legend, and his contributions to the Vllaznia club were very great, in the National team, but also afterwards, throughout his life, until the day he closed his eyes. You know well that Sabah had recently lost his sight, but he was not absent from the stadium. He lived with football and we have lost a lot. We have lost our man and on this truly sad and black day, I would like to express my condolences, first of all to Brikeno and the entire Bizi family, but also to all the footballers, former Shkodran and Albanian footballers, as well as the entire Albanian football community. I wish him to rest in peace. His memory will live on for a very long time. He was truly one of the greatest figures in Albanian football.

Last conversation with Biz? – The last conversation was on the phone, before the match with the Czech Republic, when he said to me: “President, I want to come and watch the match”. Although he had lost his sight, he came and listened to the atmosphere that football created in the stadium.
We met before in Shkodra, but under the same conditions, let’s say, when Sabahu was not exactly the same as before. We traveled together with the National team to Romania, Germany and other countries.

A football facility with his name? – Sabah Bizi is one of the greatest figures of Albanian football and it is an honor for everyone, first and foremost for Shkodra, but also for football and for the Football Federation, that a facility or sports environment immortalizes his name and contribution. Condolences to everyone! - said President Armand Duka.
