The European final, UEFA surprises with the referee

UEFA has put an end to all the dilemmas for the referee who will decide justice in the grand final of the European Championship.

The match between Spain and England will be judged by Frenchman François Letexier. An important achievement for the 35-year-old, which will decide the fate of one of the most important matches of the season.

He has held the FIFA badge since 2017, having refereed 65 official UEFA matches in his career.

In this year's European Championship, he directed three matches: Croatia-Albania, Denmark-Serbia and England-Georgia. Letexier was also the fourth referee in the opening match between Germany and Scotland.

The French referee will be accompanied by two assistants from his compatriots, Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, while the Polish Szymon Marciniak will be the fourth referee.

The latter seemed like the main favorite to judge the final, but UEFA has surprised everyone with the decision. Also a candidate was the Italian Daniele Orsato, who managed the last match of his career in England-Switzerland.

To return to the final, in VAR, will also be the referee from France, Jérôme Brisard assisted by Willy Delajod and the Italian Massimiliano Irrati.
