Karim Benzema was expected to be the main star with the striker returning specifically for the objective of defending the title. However, the injury before the start of the World Cup left him out of the big dream. Today he turns 35 years old and he officially announces his withdrawal from the French national team.

"I have made sacrifices and mistakes to get to where I am today and I am proud of what I have achieved. I wrote the story and that's it," said the attacker.
