World basketball in mourning, the unattainable legendary player of the NBA passes away

The world of basketball is in mourning, after it was learned that a true legend of this sport, Bill Russell, has passed away at the age of 88. The man who won the most championships in the NBA, 11 such in just 14 seasons, will always be remembered as one of the best basketball players in history.

He was part of the glorious era of Boston Celtics, its leader, becoming a protagonist with his game in the titles won at that time, after holding the shirt of this club in the years 1956-1969. He was part of an unforgettable dynasty, while making the role of center one of the favorites of the time.

Beyond the legend on the field, Russell has been an icon off it, as an activist for human rights, but also a "man of the street" as everyone who met him called him as he refused to sign autographs, but stopped talked to people. It is no coincidence that since 1999, the NBA Finals MVP trophy has been named after legend Bill Russell.
