"If there are no investments, we will boycott the elections"/

Some residents of the village of Hot i Ri in the Rrethina unit of the Municipality of Shkodra held a protest because their road has been in a state of disrepair for 30 years, creating traffic problems. Another concern for them remains the lack of street lighting. The residents, including a person with disabilities, show the difficulties they face every day on the road with potholes and water.

"I am a disabled person and it is very difficult for me to drive on this road with my vehicle. I have often almost fallen because of the potholes and the lack of lighting. The road is deteriorating more and more every day and there is no one to help me. In the evenings when I drive, it is very dangerous for me and I hope they asphalt it as much as possible," the resident says.

"Our village lacks electricity and street lighting. There are many houses in scandalous conditions. We have been forced to buy electricity poles privately. There are a thousand wires in a very wrong shape that are a danger to children, residents and passers-by. We pay for the electricity, but OSHEE does not serve the residents. Also, lighting at night is a concern. Naturally, the main thing for us remains the depreciated road. We demand that this axis be reconstructed as soon as possible because it is in scandalous conditions," says the resident.

"This area has been unsupported for years. There is no asphalt, we often have no electricity. There is a great risk that we as residents will be left without electricity and we are most concerned about the children because a tragedy could happen. Above all, the road is dilapidated. How can a child go to school during the winter in puddles of water or how can they go during the summer because of the dust. We are working to raise children but when it does not serve the children it is a bad thing for everyone. We have asked for these things just like a child who cries when he wants food and no one has come to say who is crying here. They have never served us. We have asked the Shkodra municipality, the mayor or the headman, but no one has dealt with these matters," says one of the residents.

"As a resident, I want this road to be paved as soon as possible. This road serves residents who go to Koplik in Malesia e Madhe and many villages in Postriba and for us as well. It is not a very long distance here and I don't know why they don't reconstruct it because there are no large expenses like other road axes," says a resident.

If their road is not reconstructed by May 11, the residents of Hoti i Ri say they will boycott the parliamentary elections.

"If someone starts working on documents for the reconstruction of this road, then we will be at the voting centers on May 11, but if there is no solution to these problems we have, then we will not go to vote, we will not participate, who to vote for. We vote for our children, for our families and for a better future," says the resident.

"No one goes to the voting center unless they present us with a document that the road will be reconstructed. Can it affect 200-300 votes? Maybe it doesn't affect and they don't have a problem with our votes because we see that someone is dying and someone is being resurrected, but we don't have to deal with the system of who is standing or who is taking it. We have to deal with the conditions that we need as residents of this area," says the resident.

Even before, the residents of Hoti i Ri in Shkodra have raised their voices about these problems, but so far they have not found a solution. In this area, there are approximately 1 thousand people who cross the road every day. /CNA
