Sometimes it can seem impossible to stay awake all day without consuming endless cups of coffee. 

Mattheë Calcasola, GP and chief medical officer at Get A Drip, says there is research that suggests a healthy adult should consume no more than 400mg of caffeine in a single day. 

He says: This equates to roughly four to five cups of coffee a day, bearing in mind that caffeine levels vary depending on the drink.

But instead of turning to coffee, there are a few other tricks you can try to stay 'awake'.

Tea is a great substitute for coffee as most teas contain half the amount of caffeine as coffee.

Drinks with vitamin C

Hot water with lemon and honey is a great alternative," says Calcasola.

Check your vitamin levels
