Veliaj in SPAK/ Arlind Qori: Politically finished, it has gone downhill

The founder of Lévizje Bashke, Arlind Qori, commented today on Erion Veliaj's appeal to SPAK.

In a long reaction on social networks, Qori listed several reasons why everyone would be happy with the arrest of Erion Veliaj, calling him one of the most corrupt politicians of the last decades.

According to Qori, Erion Veliaj has gone downhill and is politically finished, even an embarrassing burden for his political boss and accomplice Edi Rama.

Qori emphasizes that there is no justice system, no matter how well it works, that can replace the people in the historical task of uprooting evil and opening paths for single-minded democracy, the rule of law and sustainable development.

"Almost everyone, young and old, would be happy about Erion Veliaj's arrest. First of all, because we are dealing with one of the most corrupt politicians of the last decades, if not the most corrupt.

Secondly, because his governance in Tirana is an example of how a city can be undone by money laundering organized crime, how public spaces can disappear and cultural heritage be destroyed, how you can get stuck in traffic and be crushed by cars from the lack of sidewalks, how house and rent prices can skyrocket without the economy and wages growing.

Thirdly, because we are dealing with a politician whose intellectual void has been trying to be retouched for years with maniacal image control and television support. There is no politician in Albania who has been involved in public debate and accountability more feverishly than Erion Veliaj. Even the sessions of the Municipal Council serve only as a platform where the usurper of the microphone insults and slanders those who criticize him, as has often happened when he has encountered the request for an account from the representative of the UNITED Movement Mirela Ruko.

Fourth, because he manages to stand out in hypocrisy even in a political environment where hypocrisy is the common denominator of almost all political actors. Ready phrases, shallow and repetitive to the point of headache, intended to make you not believe your eyes.

Fifth, because we are dealing with a man who entered and exited political life as a big and failed experiment of the powerful. From his beginnings in Mjaft, he has had the full support of a powerful and corrupt mayor like Edi Rama, as well as the microphones of every television in every public recital with 5-6 people. It was the worst example of the new fabricated in the old, dirty kitchens of corruption, the effects of which are still felt to this day.

Erion Veliaj has gone downhill. Politically, he is finished, even an embarrassing burden for his political master and accomplice Edi Rama. When it will give way to freedom seems only a matter of time and increasingly illusory political calculations.

However, even without Erion Veliaj, evil - of which he has long been an important part - will remain among us. Systemic corruption, stifling oligarchy and propaganda bombardment will continue, with old Ustalars and new Erions.
