The former prime minister and at the same time the head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, today visited former MP Ervin Salianji, who is in Fier prison, sentenced to 1 year in prison for a false report.

Asked on Erla Mëhilli's show about the conditions in which the former deputy was, Berisha said that he saw Salianji dedicated and performing work, reading and writing, but what impressed him the most was the lack of heating.

"A man who is deprived of his freedom with witnesses and falsehoods. He is deprived of freedom for free speech, he is confined within four cold concrete walls, of course he must mobilize great forces to maintain the balance and cope with the situation. I found that Ervin Salianji was totally doing it.

He was keeping his balance, he was in working performance. He wrote, read, read, wrote and informed himself as much as he could, with the limitations he has. That they have many limitations. But the main problem is that it was without heating. This is unacceptable. That a construction, let's say what it is, is of the European Union, it is of standards, but concrete without heating is a kind of physical torture in itself. Because there is heating, but the Ministry leaves it out of order there. That impressed me."
