Albania at the NATO meeting/ Vengu: Let's increase financial resources for

Albania participated in the next meeting of NATO countries, held today in Brussels.  

The main topic of this meeting was the necessary increase in the contributions and capacities of allied countries, in light of the negotiations for a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, participating in this meeting as a representative of Albania, said that he expressed Albania's readiness to increase financial resources for defense.

In a post on social media, Vengu writes:

"At the meeting of NATO Defense Ministers, where the main topic was the necessary increase in the contributions and capacities of allied countries, in light of the negotiations for a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Under the new American impetus, expectations are high for a greater effort by European countries in strengthening their combat capabilities and assuming new responsibilities for the defense of the continent.

I expressed Albania's readiness to translate the increase in financial resources for defense into:

• more operational capacities,

• revival of the military industry,

• infrastructure in support of the modernization of our forces and in the function of the Alliance.

In this context, a responsive military industry is key to producing the necessary weapons, ammunition, and equipment.

I also emphasized the need for increased Alliance vigilance in Southeast Europe, especially in relation to Kosovo, as well as in the Adriatic-Ionian area, where Allied plans deserve to be updated with new strategic actions in the face of the numerous hybrid challenges we are facing." /CNA
