Rules for the State Police on May 11/ Regulatory Commission approves new changes

The Regulatory Commission approved today several additions and amendments to decision no. 12, dated 30.12.2020, for the approval of the rules of the State Police's activity in the service of the parliamentary elections of May 11.

The Central Election Commission announced that these decisions were made during today's meeting of the Regulatory Commission.

The approved amendments aim to:

1. Strengthen the role of the State Police as a guarantor of electoral order and neutrality, through the obligation to intervene immediately in the event of reporting and stopping threatening actions or pressure within a 150-meter radius;

2. Discourage any unauthorized presence around polling stations to avoid pressure on voters.

This decision addresses the recommendations of civil society organizations and the OSCE-ODIHR regarding the presence of unauthorized persons near or inside the premises of polling stations, as well as addressing some ambiguities in the implementation of existing rules./CNA
