Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his speech at the joint conference in Skopje with the head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, and the leaders of the region.

The head of the Albanian government emphasized that the new NATO naval base in Porto Romano should be proceeded with as soon as possible. He underlined that Albania's application to co-finance with NATO the new NATO naval base in Porto Romano should be processed as soon as possible. 

 

"I would also like to emphasize the request that Albania's application to co-finance with NATO the new NATO naval base in Porto Romano be processed as soon as possible. Because we believe that everything that happens step by step reinforces the strategic value of such an investment not just for Albania, nor for the region, but for NATO itself, which will gain another quick access to this side of Europe for any case of necessary defense. Albania has fulfilled with the 2024 budget, the objective of Defense funding by 2% as laid out by the NATO table for all member countries. We will continue to be committed to increasing the capacities and increasing the efficiency of our armed forces," he said. /CNA
