From Ulëza, to Korçë and Vjoë/ Kumbaro shows the projects

During the interpellation in the Parliament, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro also spoke about the projects for the preservation and promotion of protected areas and biodiversity for the year 2025.

"Investments in protected areas will continue to be in focus even in 2025, where only thanks to the budget of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, we will carry out the infrastructural investment for EKO-Park-Ulza, bringing to light another gem of nature and the protected areas of Albania in the north; But also using the entire historical part by making the Uleza hydropower plant a museum for all the curious.

This is the vision that makes these areas visitable, likeable and brings them out of obscurity. Within the year 2025, the construction of a Multifunctional Center and natural education together with the nature educational museum in Korça will begin, as well as another one in Drilon, which I encourage you to visit because the Drilon-Tushemishti Nature Park has come to light. I know you go, that's what you have, you enjoy and enjoy the beauties we build, but when you come here you wear the 'swear belt on your belt' just like you did at Lake Park.

But we will also move forward with the construction of the Multifunctional Center in Vjosa, a project that came after an international competition and designed with a main station in Tepelena and two complementary stations in Përmet and Vlora, where precisely because of the length and surface of over 12 thousand hectares of the National Park, we intend to create another ecotourism attraction by promoting the biodiversity values ??of the last wild river in Europe, which during the two years of has recently become a passport of international promotion for the country. And not more than a week ago, the Council of Ministers made the decision to create the Administration Office of the Vjosa River National Park, since it is a park that passes through four different counties, we could not leave it without a good administration dedicated!", said Kumbaro.

The Minister of Tourism and Environment also spoke about the vision of sustainable tourism where the protected areas were visited by 5.3 million visitors during the period January-November 2024, about 1 million more than a year ago.

"Our goal is sustainable tourism, elite tourism, which protects the environment, takes care of nature and leaves a prosperous Albania for generations, the complete opposite of the homeland that you propose and which unfortunately you have proven to achieve regularly! Protected areas carry within them human history and natural heritage, this is a fact, it is an asset, and we must protect it not by evicting people from the villages and pushing them all to Tirana, the city or foreign employment. But by orienting them towards tourism and agritourism, towards the vision of Albania 2030. This is what we voted for, and for this we will vote again on May 11, and above all precisely in those areas that are being prospered by the human spirit, despite the desert that you propose!" said Minister Kumbaro./ CNA
