During the official visit to Kosovo, the Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu also stopped at the KFOR Central Command as well as the Western Area Command in Peja, where he met the Albanian troops, who serve alongside NATO's allied and partner countries.

Accompanied by the ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, the Minister of Defense was received by the KFOR commander, Major General Özkan Uluta?, with whom they shared their concern about the fragile security context, mainly in the north of Kosovo, recalling the criminal and terrorist attacks against KFOR troops as well as the one in Banjska, last year: "Albania unwaveringly supports KFOR as the only guarantee for a safe and stable environment in Kosovo", Vengu said, thanking Major General Uluta? for his determination and prudence in preventing threatening situations.

At the KFOR base in Pejë, the Albanian delegation was received by the Italian commander of the base, Colonel Mundo, who informed Mr. Vengu about the contribution of the Albanian troops, emphasizing that their commitment and professionalism is appreciated by all the citizens of Kosovo and especially by minorities.

In the meeting with the Albanian contingent, Minister Vengu thanked the women and men of our Armed Forces who serve in the KFOR mission, which aims at the safety of the entire population and freedom of movement throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

Increasing Albania's contributions to NATO missions also requires greater attention to improving the mission conditions of our forces and continuous support for their families.

The Albanian contingent in the KFOR mission has recently increased and consists of 107 officers in the Western Regional Command in Pejë and 25 civilian and military representatives in the KFOR Headquarters in Film City, Pristina./ CNA
