Since 10:00, the EU-Western Balkans summit is taking place in Tirana.

During his speech, the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, called for the countries of the region to leave behind the divisions of the past and move forward, thus referring to the old conflicts in the Balkans. 

The head of government said that bilateral issues should be resolved through dialogue between the two sides and not interfere with multilateral cooperation.

'Improving our relations by encouraging cooperation between the 6 countries of the Western Balkans. The new EU growth plan itself is an encouraging result. I could not be more grateful to President Ursula Von Der Leyen of Varheley and their willingness to listen to our concerns. It is very clear to me that the new opportunity that this out-of-the-box plan represents is not only recognition by the EU of our efforts to build a common effort but also challenges us to our readiness for the fate of the EU. We must commit ourselves without any reservations, without any hesitation. I admit that, unlike Albania, the countries of the region face complex issues, but we must put these aside. The countries of the region should cooperate. Bilateral issues remain, but they should be resolved through bilateral dialogue and not interfere in this multi-party cooperation.'- said Rama. /CNA
