Who sent Ilir Meta behind bars

Chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta

The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, was arrested at noon today by BKH agents, near Casa Italia in Tirana, while he was traveling by car.

Meta's arrest comes after SPAK's investigations into several files.

The Special Procuracy accuses the head of the PL of corruption, laundering of products and non-declaration of assets.

The former president's file is being investigated by prosecutors Sotir Kllapi, Arben Kraja and Altin Dumani.

Kllapi was the prosecutor who asked for Meta's arrest, while the arrest measure was taken by judge Erjon Cela.  

Immediately after the arrest warrant was issued, Meta was caught by the agents and sent to the Tirana Police Directorate, while he was then transferred to the Security Block, near the 3rd police region in the capital./ CNA
