First speech as Speaker of Parliament/ Peleshi: Let's find political

Niko Peleshi has been elected as the head of the Albanian Parliament.

In his first speech for the new position, Peleshi focused on delivering several messages, among which he called for the consensus of the pro-European Albanian people, together with the deputies, to turn it into a political consensus.

"The trust you gave me today is an honor. I accept with dedication that my energies will be at the disposal of the country and society. To carry out this state duty, as part of a historic moment. I am committed to turning this trust into an impetus to work every day. I thank Elisa Spiropali and success in the task she will take on. I thank all the deputies regardless of the vote. I will make it possible to guarantee the status of the Assembly and the deputy. I would like to set a new standard for the work, for which my will alone is not enough. We are part of the final segment towards European membership. It is an immense responsibility, just like the first parliament in the early 90s. Now it is our duty, at the head of the integration process. Albania is among the most pro-European nations and this consensus inspires us. Let's turn this consensus into a political consensus in the Assembly", - said Peleshi./ CNA
