The chairman of the DP, Sali Berisha, has raised the alarm about the departure of Albanians from the country, during a meeting with the citizens of Dibra, after placing a wreath of flowers on the monument 'Elez Isufi' & 'Isuf Xhelili'.

Berisha said that the country is in desolation, as he claims that the nation is rapidly losing its inhabitants.

The former prime minister emphasized that in 8 years over 744 thousand citizens left Albania only in the EU area, not counting other countries of the world.

“Pasi dolëm nga diktatura komuniste, 32 vite më pas, përsëri rreziku qëndron mbi ne si ‘Shpata e Demokleut’. A jemi sot në rrezik apo po e teprojmë duke shpallur një gjë të tillë? A është Shqipëria në rrezik? A është Dibra në rrezik? Apo është një teprim? Le t’u referohemi fakteve. Një komb që humbet me shpejtësi banorët e tij, anëtarët e tij është në rrezik dhe rrezik të madh kudo.

In these 8 years, no other nation has lost its members as much as we Albanians have. This is from 2014 until today, with reliable EU statistics, 744,417 Albanians have left Albania in the EU area alone. Without counting how many have gone to other countries of the world. I'll give you another example. Greece after World War II fell into civil war. There is nothing worse for a nation, 1 million Greeks left. Whereas we have left 26-27% of the inhabitants from Albania for 8 years. We are in a big wrinkle, in desolation, the youth, the children, the future are disappearing", underlined Berisha./ BA - CNA.al
