The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Belind Kelliçi, did not spare the irony as he reacted after Veliaj admitted that he lied about the number of trees he had planted in Tirana.

Kelliçi said that the one-millionth tree was the biggest electoral fraud in 3 decades and that now the mayor will plant another 1 million trees, even fruit trees.

" Who cut down the 1 million trees of the reindeer father? The 1 millionth tree was the biggest electoral fraud in 3 decades. Now the mayor will plant 1 million more, even fruit trees. Free fruit for all!” - writes Kelliçi.

Two days ago, the mayor Erion Veliaj opened the tree planting season in the capital as he said that the citizens want more trees and everyone can contribute by planting one.

" We have arrived at a situation where even that former cynicism and skepticism, or the confusion that was done with planting campaigns, has passed. First, because the voters have given us a very clear message, they want more – 800 thousand, 900 thousand, 1 million, any tree is better than being a mockery of the public good. So anyone can pick up a shovel and help. It is a fact that today we have so many young people who consider it fashionable to be involved in such activities. There are young people who study at the Agricultural University, but also children who say they will plant a tree for their birthday, for their grandfather, for any kind of reason, or simply to add oxygen," said Veliaj./ CNA
