Met Gala 2026 returns with the theme "Fashion is Art"/ Here's

New York is ready for the 2026 Met Gala, the world's most prestigious fashion event, where around 450 VIP guests will parade down the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the biggest fashion night of the year.

This year's theme is "The Art of Costume," while the dress code is "Fashion is Art," inviting stars to interpret fashion as an art form through their clothing. Organizers are expecting creations inspired by artistic periods such as Baroque, Impressionism, and the Renaissance.

The evening's co-chairs are Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams, while Anna Wintour continues to host the iconic event. The 2026 Met Gala also marks Beyoncé's return to the event after a 10-year absence.

The evening will officially open the Costume Institute's spring exhibition, which will feature over 400 garments and objects spanning 5,000 years of fashion history.

Tickets for the event remain among the most expensive in the entertainment world: a table costs over $350,000, while an individual ticket reaches $75,000, although most celebrities receive invitations from fashion houses.

The Met Gala traditionally takes place on the first Monday in May and will be broadcast live by Vogue and major social platforms, while millions of fans around the world will follow the spectacular arrival of the stars on the red carpet. /CNA
