"I turned down a role to get double the money"/ Actress Meryl Streep

Famous Hollywood actress Meryl Streep said she predicted the success of the film "The Devil Wears Prada 2" and wanted to be rewarded accordingly.

When the producers of the first film offered the actress the role of Miranda Presley, she had already appeared in films such as: "Sophie's Choice", "The Deer Hunter" and "The French Captain's Mistress".

Her experience on the big screen led her to make a smart decision. She initially turned down the role in order to be offered double the money, knowing they needed it.

"I read the script, which was very good. They called me, made me an offer and I said, 'No. I'm not doing it.' I wanted to see if they would double the amount I was asking for, and they immediately said, 'Of course.' I was 56 at the time and it took me a long time to realize that I could negotiate that way," the actress revealed.

Streep may have declared she was ready to retire before the iconic film, but life proved it wasn't her time yet, as the years that followed brought her a string of leading roles and an Oscar win for "The Iron Lady." /CNA
