“The Skin of Light”/ Third Edition of Gjon Mili International Video

In its third edition, the Gjon Mili International Video Art Festival comes with a title that is as simple as it is provocative for the artists: "The Skin of Light".

This is an invitation to see light not only as a source of illumination, but as a surface where memory, perception, and form come together.

“Skin of Light” is a metaphor for the way video art challenges the boundaries between what is real and imaginary, between transparency and mask. Each screen becomes a place where memory and feeling come together.
From 1230 applications from different artists around the world, 62 artists have been selected that show just as many ways of the artist’s relationship with light, often as a skin that pulsates between the virtual and the real world, between sensitivity and interaction.

The three locations selected this year are: Korça, August 27-29, 2025.

The festival kicks off at the Gjon Mili Museum in Korça, where it all began. For three days, this important place turns into a space where video art meets memory and visual experiment.
There, history and art coexist in the play of light.

Then, the festival moves to Dhërmi, on September 1-3, 2025, to a place where light is not just illumination, but a touch that glides over the forms and is absorbed by the textures of the typical buildings of the area.

Between the old houses and the open sky, light appears as an interface between the body, memory and nature.

The festival concludes in Manhattan, New York, September 28 - October 4, 2025, the place where Gjon Mili achieved his fame. In the heart of New York, the program includes a night for the winning artists and three days of works by selected artists, emphasizing light as something sensitive, in motion and in change./CNA
