The Mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, spoke about the fire that has engulfed the waste field in Vlora since yesterday evening. Dredha said that the perimeter of the fire is now manageable and work is being done to completely isolate it.

The mayor of Vlora stated that measures are being taken for the waste in this area, and said that within a week it will be transported to the Sherishta landfill. Later, Dredha said that the Vlora landfill will be encapsulated, as well as the Orikum one.

" The fire started last night, somewhere around 10 p.m. Around 11:30 p.m. the fire was almost under control, by midnight it started again and today there was more fire presence. The perimeter where there is fire is now manageable. There is more smoke, however firefighters are on the ground to completely isolate it."

There are problems with the management of the municipal administration, measures will also be taken against individuals if they have not reacted or have not reacted in time.

"The Sherishta landfill will be put into operation for a maximum of one week. We hope that from next week we will start placing the waste at the Sherishta landfill and then take measures to encapsulate as much as we can, with soil as a first phase, both the landfill here and the waste field in Orikum," said Dredha./ CNA
