The police have finalized the mega-operation against a criminal organization that transported cocaine, on the island of Corfu.

As a result, 10 people were arrested, while 9 others were identified as their accomplices.

Among the arrested are 5 Albanian citizens. A police officer who was arrested in 2020 for robbery was also put in handcuffs.

The head of the criminal group is suspected to be a 38-year-old Albanian and a 45-year-old woman, against whom a criminal complaint has been filed for the creation, management and membership of a criminal organization for the purpose of cocaine trafficking.

The head of the organization, the Albanian citizen, was responsible for finding quantities of cocaine, organizing the core, and delegating actions to other members, giving them instructions on drug trafficking.

The 45-year-old had the role of "observer" in Corfu, as she was responsible for receiving drugs from "transporters", forging, distributing quantities and then selling them to traffickers by order of the "leader" and "vice president". As part of the investigations carried out by the police, a pistol, the amount of 5600 euros, a quantity of cocaine, 2 cars and 8 mobile phones were found and seized.

The total amount of cocaine traffic, from the criminal activity of the group during the period under review, is estimated to exceed 1.5 kilograms, of which 950 grams were seized, while the total financial benefit is calculated at 95 thousand euros./ CNA
