The Tirana police have arrested 4 people and 7 others are under investigation at large, as they were storing and selling packs of smuggled cigarettes in their shops.

FZ, 68 years old, PJ, 43 years old, A. Sh., 29 years old, and EF, 26 years old, fell into the custody of the police, for whom the court imposed the "prison arrest" measure. 

Police Notification: 

The police operation coded "Cigarette" is finalized by the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana.

The security measure "Arrest in prison" is executed for 4 citizens, and the procedure begins for 7 others, as they were storing and selling packs of smuggled cigarettes in their shops.

Specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, following the work for the prevention, identification and suppression of criminal activity in the field of goods smuggling, after a real investigative work, in the direction of the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of Jurisdiction of General Tirana, based on the information provided through information intelligence, successfully organized and finalized the coded police operation "Cigarette".

As a result of this operation, the security measure "Arrest in prison" was executed for citizens:

- FZ, 68 years old, PJ, 43 years old, A. Sh., 29 years old, and EF, 26 years old, all residents of Tirana.

In addition, the procedure started in a free state for the citizens: DY, 51 years old, AH, 51 years old, ID, 37 years old, SO, 50 years old, GB, 59 years old, LH, 55 years old and AT, all residents of Tirana.

From the investigative actions, it was found that these citizens have smuggled, stored and sold cigarettes in their commercial entities, as well as hid the income gained from this activity.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office, for further actions./ CNA
