The police in Berat have conducted an operation codenamed "Precedence", from which citizen AK, 32 years old, was arrested. This citizen is accused of exploiting a 36-year-old woman for prostitution.

From the several-week police investigation, it was learned that the 36-year-old woman was exploited for prostitution in Berat and Lushnja.

The 32-year-old had been previously convicted for exploiting the same citizen for prostitution in Albania and Greece.

Citizen AH, 36 years old, resident of Memaliaj, was also arrested and detained.

The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Berat is continuing further procedures.

Police announcement:

"The operation, the result of a several-week investigation, with proactive methods, by the Section for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking, in cooperation with the Berat Prosecutor's Office. A 32-year-old man was arrested who exploited a 36-year-old woman for prostitution in Berat and Lushnja.

The citizen who practiced prostitution was also in handcuffs. The 32-year-old, previously convicted, for exploiting the same citizen, for prostitution in Albania and Greece.

As part of the "Precedente" operation, as well as in implementation of the security measure "Arrest in prison", assigned by the Berat Court, respectively for the criminal offenses "Exploitation of prostitution" and "Prostitution", citizen AK, 32 years old, resident of Berat, was arrested and handcuffed, also in cooperation with the Memaliaj Police Station, citizen AH, 36 years old, resident of Memaliaj, Tepelena, was arrested and detained for the criminal offense "Prostitution". The

32-year-old is accused of having exploited citizen AH for prostitution in Berat and in Lushnje.
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Berat, for further actions." /CNA
