Orikum is one of the tourist areas in the south of the country, but this year the residents there are sounding the alarm that they are not ready to welcome vacationers. Damaged infrastructure within the neighborhoods, water holes, garbage, while residents say they suffer from a lack of drinking water and electricity.

Lack of water, electricity and infrastructure are the main problems in the small coastal town, which is getting ready to welcome tourists.

Residents say they haven't seen any investment in years, while those that have been made in the past, they say, have not been maintained.

"The problems here are with electricity, which is the biggest problem. We are left without electricity for hours and days without any reason. Another problem here is drinking water, which is only available for two hours a day. Everyone has boilers and if they don't have boilers, they can't have water. In such conditions, you can't pretend to have tourism," the residents say. /CNA
