Prisoner found dead in security block/ 46-year-old ends life

A prisoner in the security block was found hanged at around 01:20.

46-year-old DG was detained by Police Station No. 3 for theft.

The police report states that the prisoner had stated that he was a drug user.

On 13.03.2025, at around 01:20, in room no. 8 of the security block, the detained citizen DG, 46 years old, born in Berat and resident in Tirana, detained by Police Station No. 3 for the criminal offense of theft, was found hanging himself with a piece of clothing (parts of his clothes).

 

From the actions taken, it appears that at around 00:50, the service employee performed a routine check and the detainee did not show any problems or concerns.

 

At around 01:20, during the next check, the police officer found the detainee hanging from the window net of the room and immediately intervened, requesting assistance from other officers. In an attempt to keep the detainee upright, one of the officers cut the clothes with which he had hanged himself and the emergency services were immediately notified. The medical service arrived at the scene, where it was determined that the detainee had passed away.

 

Citizen DG had declared that he was a drug user and after visiting the toxicology service, the doctors had not determined a methadone dose, since from the contact with the "Aksion Plus" center, it was confirmed that he was not registered as a methadone user. The medical recommendation issued by the security block doctor included the sedative Xanax, which was given to the detainee according to this recommendation.

Investigative actions for the case, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, will be carried out by the Tirana AMP Directorate./ CNA
