Cannabis hidden behind a shed/ 1 citizen arrested in Maliq, 1 other wanted

Investigations by the Korça Prosecutor's Office led to the arrest of citizen KL, as well as the announcement of another citizen being wanted, after they produced and hid narcotics of the cannabis sativa type behind the premises of a bird cage.

They are suspected of the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration, while another person suspected of several criminal offenses has been declared wanted.

In cooperation with the Korça Local Police Directorate and the Narcotics Investigation Section, during the searches carried out, a secret environment built under a bird cage, disguised and specially adapted for the cultivation and drying of cannabis sativa narcotic plants, was discovered. The entrance to this environment was through an improvised space, which led to a room built underground.

An inspection of this environment revealed that it was professionally organized, with walls covered with thermal insulation materials, adapted to maintain temperature and humidity. The environment was equipped with various ventilation, lighting and heating systems, including special electric lamps, devices for regulating temperature and humidity, as well as pipes for air circulation. A water supply system and an organized system for watering plants were also installed.

In this space, special areas adapted for drying plants were found, where suspected cannabis sativa plants were hung on improvised structures. Dozens of pots filled with soil, with remains of cut plant stems, as well as auxiliary materials and equipment for the cultivation and processing of the narcotic substance were found on the floor.

From the investigative actions, approximately 5.4 kg of suspected cannabis sativa narcotic substance in various forms (in the process of drying and packaged in small doses), a small amount of suspected cocaine narcotic substance, various equipment for the cultivation and processing of narcotic substances (pots, lighting lamps, ventilation system, electronic scales), as well as a weapon in the form of a pistol with a compressed gas canister were seized. /CNA
