Hail damages the crops/ Residents of Maliqi: The losses are irreparable

30 minutes of rain and hail were enough to damage the production in the gardens and lands of Bregas villages, in the Podgorie Administrative Unit of Maliqi. Hail was also recorded in the area of ??Pirgu.

The damage is still unaccounted for, but residents say that more than 80% of the produce in gardens and vineyards has been irreparably damaged.

"These damages were done here by grapes and apples. He sent the grapes to the ground, plucked them," said one of the residents.

The farmers say that the corn was also damaged by the hail, which fell with high intensity. They appeal to the state for compensation of damages.

"Whole, fruits, vegetables are completely gone. With apples, with grapes, with vineyards, peppers, tomatoes, the whole thing. 80-90% finished at all. Very heavy damage, it ruined the corn altogether. It fell for almost half an hour, it did a lot of damage, 70-80% was completely gone. We expect help from the state, because they ask a lot for help, they give a lot of help", declared another resident.

It is known that working groups have been set up in the Municipality of Maliqi to assess the damages caused by Sunday's hailstorm, while the issue of compensation remains distant, since according to the officials, the state of emergency must first be declared, and then the estimated damages they also bring compensation to farmers.
