The officer was arrested in Qafë-Botë/ He was passing contraband goods

The Police Surveillance Agency has arrested a police officer at the Qafë-Bota border crossing for smuggling excise goods. 

The officer with the initials BH, who was in charge of the shift, fell into police custody.

AMP Notice:

The Police Surveillance Agency (Vlorë-Gjirokastër Region) has finalized the operation "Stekat", after an investigation followed by special methods, arresting in the act the BH police officer, responsible for the shift at the Qafë Bote Border Crossing Point, after during the control of the "Mercedes Benz" vehicle, with which he was moving from the Qafë Botë border crossing point in the direction of Saranda, they found 49 sticks without fiscal stamps, suspected of being contraband, with a value of around 3,500 euros.

From the inspection of a store owned by this citizen, several bags of tobacco without tax stamps were also found.

From the investigations so far followed by AMP, under the direction of the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Sarandë, it has been found that this police officer periodically, during the time he was in service at PKK Qafë Botë, passed these goods smuggling to supply various businesses in Saranda, in a value that is estimated to be around 10,000 euros per month from the sale and purchase of goods.

As material evidence, stacks of contraband cigarettes, plastic tobacco bags without fiscal stamps, 2 mobile phones and the Mercedes Benz type vehicle used for transportation were seized.

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Saranda General Jurisdiction for further actions. /CNA
