Israeli military launches airstrikes on southern Lebanese city of Tyre

The Israeli military has announced that it has launched attacks on "Hezbollah infrastructure" in Tyre, an ancient coastal city in southern Lebanon.

The attacks come after Israel issued what appeared to be the biggest evacuation warning yet from the city, which is located on the Mediterranean coast, north of the area occupied by Israeli forces.

Israel has intensified its operations in Lebanon in recent days. On Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had carried out strikes against more than 150 sites targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah throughout southern Lebanon.

Lebanon's state-run NNA news agency also reported a deadly rocket attack in the early hours of Thursday morning on an apartment building in Sidon, Lebanon's third-largest city.

Lebanese health authorities say at least 3,269 people have been killed in that period and at least 9,840 have been injured. /CNA
