Details of the draft of the possible US-Iran agreement are revealed

A draft of the initial memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran is in the possession of Iranian state television. As reported by Reuters, the draft stipulates that US military forces will withdraw from the area near Iran and the US will lift the naval blockade.

In return, Iran has pledged to restore the number of commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within a month. In effect, Iran will manage ship traffic in cooperation with Oman. However, it is clarified that military ships are not included in the draft agreement. If the agreement is approved within 60 days, this will take the form of a binding resolution of the United Nations Security Council.

The fragile US-Iran ceasefire was put to the test again yesterday after new US strikes around the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, in the southern part of the country. It remains unclear whether the US military's actions will affect negotiations between the two sides for a final ceasefire, with Washington estimating there will be a delay of several days but maintaining expectations for a positive outcome.

Political analysts attributed the limited attacks launched by the US to an attempt by the US president to calm the reactions of some Republican senators against a possible agreement with Iran, appearing to act from a position of strength.

For his part, Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, called on the governments of all Muslim states in the region to cooperate with Tehran to build a new order. On Monday, Trump had called for the Arab states of the region and Pakistan to jointly sign the Abraham Accords, restoring normal relations with Israel, but yesterday Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif rejected this possibility.

Tensions in the region are also being fueled by new Israeli military attacks against Hezbollah in the Bekaa Valley and other areas of Lebanon. Yesterday, Israel ordered the evacuation of Nabatiyeh, one of the largest cities in southern Lebanon. Recently, the Iranian Fars agency reported that the last serious point of disagreement blocking an agreement concerns the release of frozen Iranian funds. Tehran is demanding the release of at least $24 billion in assets.
